About Healthy Happy Dogs
Healthy dogs. Happy families.
Clear, compassionate dog-care guidance shaped by veterinary experience, hands-on animal care, and a belief that pet parents deserve honest answers.
We explain what the evidence supports, what practical experience suggests, and when your dog needs individualized care from a veterinary professional.

Why we are here
Better decisions begin with clearer information.
Healthy Happy Dogs was created to help dog parents understand health concerns, everyday care, nutrition, safety, and products without losing sight of the whole dog.
Our work brings together veterinary knowledge, nearly two decades of hands-on animal-care experience, rescue work, nutrition education, and practical problem-solving. We aim to make complex topics easier to understand while staying honest about uncertainty and the limits of general online guidance.
Evidence and experience
We separate established information from opinion and practical experience.
Useful guidance
Our work is written for the decisions dog parents face every day.
Clear limits
Education can support veterinary care, but it cannot replace diagnosis or treatment.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Candy Akers, DVM
Dr. Candy Akers combines holistic health and conventional medicine to help families look beyond symptoms and better understand the whole animal. She graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware.
Her professional focus includes companion-animal nutrition, biologically appropriate diets, chronic disease, allergies, autoimmune conditions, and cold laser therapy. Before veterinary school, she worked in wildlife rehabilitation and spent two years responding to wildlife oil spills across the country.
After operating a mobile veterinary practice for nine years, Dr. Candy now lives in Woodward, Oklahoma, and serves pet parents through online holistic consultations and guided healing programs.
