How we work

Editorial Standards

The principles we follow to create clear, useful, and responsible dog-care information.

Last reviewed: August 18, 2026

Our purpose

Healthy Happy Dogs helps readers understand dog health, nutrition, grooming, safety, and product choices. Our content is educational and is not a substitute for an examination, diagnosis, or treatment plan from your own veterinarian.

Qualified authorship

Articles identify their author and relevant background. Veterinary topics are written or reviewed with professional expertise appropriate to the subject. We distinguish clinical guidance from personal experience and opinion.

Medical review

Content involving symptoms, medications, diagnosis, treatment, or risk prevention receives additional scrutiny. When an article has been medically reviewed, the reviewer and review date should be shown on the page. We encourage prompt veterinary care whenever delay could put a dog at risk.

Updates and accountability

Dog-care guidance changes. We review priority content, update dates when meaningful revisions are made, and stay up to date with all scientific or medical advances in the field.

Important: If your dog may be experiencing an emergency, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary hospital immediately.
